May 29, 2015 – Nigerian Jailed For 130 Years In Ghana Begs Buhari For Help, Says 100 Nigerians Prisoners Have Died In 2015

My name is Emmanuel Emeka, a prisoner in Ankaful maximum security prison, Cape Coast, Ghana. I’m serving a jail-term of 130yrs imprisonment and I’m presently in my 8th year. We appeal to the Nigerian government to please come to our aid. The condition here has been so unbearable for (we) Nigerian prisoners in Ghana. We need to reconnect with our families.

The Ghanaian police are fond of arresting innocent Nigerians, giving them high sentence of 50yrs 70yrs 100yrs 150yrs to 200yrs. Most of us have spent 8yrs 10yrs 15yrs 17yrs 20yrs inside prison and some have died inside the prison without completing their jail-term. Our families are in the dark, they really don’t know what we are facing. We’ve spent a lot of money trying to appeal in court, but all is to no avail. Within my 8years in prison, I have witnessed over 100 deaths of Nigerian citizen in the Ghana prison and most of their families are not even aware.

They still keep the hope of their return without knowing they are dead and buried with no rites. We appeal to the government of Nigeria to please act on our behalf so we won’t continue to perish in this peril. There are many Nigerians in all the 46 prisons in Ghana that need help from the Nigerian government. Also the media, kindly keep spreading the message until it finally grips the attention of the able government. To fellow citizens of Nigeria, our brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers, please continue to pray for us and do what you can to return us back home.

Another sad part is that most of us are on sick bed, no drugs for us. This is the unseen hardship Nigerian citizens in all the prisons in Ghana are facing and myself inclusive. I’ve been sick for the past 2 months and they have not taken me to the hospital or give me any drug. They treat us like animals, they give us dry garri everyday, no access to communication.

I know how I suffered to get this phone to send this message to you. Please, on this message, lies the survival of about 800 to 1000 Nigerian prisoners in the 46 prisons in Ghana who are in this type of high sentence.

Help us spread the message to all the four corners of Nigeria to make campaign for our freedom because that is the only hope left for us.

Emmanuel Emeka, Ankaful Maximum Security Prison Cape Coast

LOOK NAIJA GIST! I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN GHANA FOR YEARS I EVEN SPEAK THERE LOCAL LANGUAGE…. NO GHANEAN POLICE WOULD ARREST A NIGERIA FOR NOTHING….. LOOK, WHEN EVER ARMRUBBERS ARE ARRESTED IN GHANA THEY MUST BE **** ACCORDING TO THERE NAMES…. **** HAS NO BUSINESS IN GHANA, JUST A FEW BUT MAJORITY OF THEM ARE CRIMINALS IN GHANA. TAKE NOTE… IF YOU ARE TAKEN TO COURT IN GHANA AS A NIGERIAN FOR STEALING THE JUDGE CAN DECIDES ON HIS OWN TO GIVE YOU 70YEARS AND ABOVE (WILL YOU BLAME HIM? WHO ASK YOU TO GO AND STEAL IN A POOR COUNTRY LIKE GHANA?)… THESE FOOLISH2 *** ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT NEEDS MONEY… I HAVE NEVER HEAD AN HOUSA OR ANY OTHER TRIBE ARRESTED AND DETAINED FOR YEARS IN GHANA APART FROM ****. THE **** THOUGHT GHANA IS LIKE NIGERIA WHERE THEY CAN RUB, WHEN ARRESTED THEY CAN GO TO THE POLICE STATION AND BRIBE THE POLICE TO LET THEM GO. IN GHANA I SWEAR THEY CAN GIVE YOU LIFE IN PRISONMENT AS A NIGERIAN IF YOU STEAL PHONE. BECAUSE OF ****ANY WHERE YOU GO ALL OVER THE WORLD PEOPLE CALL NIGERIANS 419.. BOKOHARAM ARE BETTER THAN THE ****. NO ONE SEES A NIGERIAN AND CALL HIM A BOKOHARAM BUT 419.. MAY GOD KILL ALL THE ARMRUBBERS DISGRACING NIGERIA ALL OVER THE WORLD IN JESUS NAME.

First all, I like to thank NaijaGists for revealing this message. I thank you very much.

Also I will thank you more if you could do as Mr. Emeka said, to informed general public until Nigeria govt is well informed. I like you to spread this message. Thank you.

The reason I stressed this is because sighting this picture makes me sad outright. I just returned from Juma’ah only to see this and I am sad. I actually thought those people are sleeping.

Secondly, it’s important to know crimes they committed. I am no fan of anyone committing crimes in foreign land. Law of every nation must be respected. Although, I sincerely doubt Mr. Emeka (without prejudice) for saying they are innocents even though there is possibility. What crimes they committed to deserve these long sentences is really something to look into. I hope that regardless of their crimes, Nigerian govt should say something about this.

Finally, folks really need to get a life and stop double standard. Imagine this kind of thing happening in Arab or Muslim countries, it will be all over the news like roaches.

Were you arrested for doing nothing? You must have broken their laws. I do not see why innocent people should be arrested and given 100 year jail term. You must have committed heinous offense or offenses.

The reason many of our Nigerians fall into crimes is lack of childhood home training. Most Nigerians were born and raised up around shops environment where they see money at young age changing hands. Most never lived at home environment with their parents to get home training. They grew up basing their interest in money. Because of their love for money they end up committing crimes which can lead them to jail. Also because of their quest for money so as to buy flashy cars to take home for show off and build big houses.

Please Nigerians train your children in home environment and cut your coat according to your size.

Is this how they sleep in jail. If so Nigerians learn from this is real suffering. Imagine leaving your bed to sleep like this.

Do Nigerians Think They Are The Only Ones Who Love Money Or Who Can Commit Crimes? They Top The List Of Every Country On This Earth As Far As Crimes Are Concern. If U Engage Ur Self In Crime Be Ready To Face The Rot Of The Law.The Government Is Not Father Christmas To Be Spending State Resources On Criminals Who Becos Of Greed And Laziness Find Them Selves In Crimes.Mr Buhari, focus On Building Ur Nation Forward Not Backward

    Dear my fellow GREAT NIGERIANS

First of all you Ramma means goat and an hausa donkey he is speaking out of racist because of all the prisoners there are IGBO’S

I lived in Ghana and I have a home in Ghana and I knew Ghana more than anything ,90% of Nigerian prisoners in Ghana are innocents

Many Nigerians had loosed their life through Ghanaian girls and also had loosed their properties through Ghanaian girls they will pretend to love you but love only your wealth the same targeting to waste your life

As for Ghanians they are number1 to set innocent soul up,I know many people who rented shop worth 10 million naira twice in Ghana ,you will rent a shop with legal papers later on the family member of the person will come and claim not to see the money their brother received ,they will drag you to court Ghanaian court will judge in favour of their people at the end the Nigerian national will double the rent times 2,

My brother bought a car twice in Ghana with beating and many days in detention ,Ghanaians hate and envy IGBOS,Yorubas had joined hands with Ghanaians to fighing IGBOS in Ghana,

All these nonsense comments above against my suffering siblings in detention are made by Yorubas and few hausas but I dont have much to say

All I have to tell Ghanaians is they shouldnt be worried at all ,Very soon they will reap what they sowed
