December 25, 2013 – Nigerian Nurse Osironke Olugbile Accused Of Pulling Patient’s Hair In London

A home care nurse is currently on trial in the UK for allegedly pulling a screaming patient’s hair at Bupa care home.

According to MailOnline, Osironke Olugbile, 53, also barricaded residents in their rooms and dressed them in multiple incontinence pads so as not to disturb her during the night, it is alleged. She was caught by a healthcare assistant, identified as Mr 1, pulling the resident’s hair to force her into bed.

The nurse also layered incontinence pads in stacks of five and repeatedly switched off the call bell so that she could work undisturbed, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.
Olugbile also left pensioners fully clothed over night so that she did not have to dress them in the morning at the Bupa-run Collingwood Court Nursing Centre in Clapham, south London.

Giving evidence Mr 1 said he was initially worried about making a complaint after Olugbile said she had a friend with supernatural powers.

‘I was hesitant to report the issue to management because Ronke (Olugbile’s nickname) would often comment that she has someone back home, in Africa, with supernatural powers who will do whatever she says, to the point of killing someone if necessary,’ Mr 1 told the hearing.

The tribunal found nearly all the allegations against Oligbile proved and she could now face being struck off the register.
Robert Benzyne, for the NMC, told the panel that Mr 1 witnessed the abuse through the resident’s room door after it had been left ajar on August 6, 2010.

‘He approached room 59 where he heard screaming and shouting. The door to the room was ajar and he witnessed the registrant pulling Resident A’s hair trying to get her to bed.’
He also said that Olugbile would remove the stacked up incontinence pads before the day staff arrived.

Olugbile barricaded Patient F who was described as ‘restless and aggressive’ in his room, it was said.

She also turned off the call bell between August 13 and August 15, 2010 and on several other occasions, preventing vulnerable patients from being able to contact the nurse’s desk.
Mr Benzyne said: ‘He (her colleague) recalls that the bell had been switched off. The reason that was given to him about why the bell was switched off was that it prevented the bell disturbing her during the night.

‘The registrant put the resident’s day clothes on intending that they would be able to get up in the morning and they would already be changed and that would save time in order to clean them and get them ready for the day shift.’
On another occasion she wrote that a patient ‘enjoyed falling deliberately on to the floor and sliding from the chair’ in their hospital passport.
Finding all but one allegation against Olugbile proved NMC panel chairman Clive Powell said she was guilty of ‘serious abuse’,

‘The panel determined that some of your conduct in relation to the vulnerable residents at the Home amounted to serious abuse,’ he said.
‘The panel noted that you have not shown any remorse or regret. You have denied these charges from the beginning and have sought to blame others and accuse them of lying.
‘You have sought to abdicate yourself from any personal responsibility for your actions,’ said Mr Powell.

The nurse, who claimed she is the victim of a ‘conspiracy’, now faces an anxious wait as her hearing has been adjourned for the second time.
When the hearing resumes next year, the panel will determine what sanction to impose which could see the nurse struck-off the register.

Olugbile worked at the Collingwood Court Nursing Centre between March 27, 2006 and February 9, 2011 after registering as a nurse in 2005.

  1. This woman might be innocent. I’m a nurse myself I know how our white co workers can be on the job. May God vindicate you Ronke

  2. @yetty..you are very right. These white are racist. They don’t like blacks atall. We are like virus to them. They will go any length to lie, just to get rid of a black person at their working [email protected] james…you don’t judge a book by its cover dumb.Try to be civilized, and reason accurately before commenting next time.i don’t blame you is obvious u haven’t travel before, not to talk of having that opportunity of working with these beast called whites.

    • Oluwadunni you’re horrible, why would you make such statement like that, you make me sick, you sound like you will probably do the same thing that she is accused of, and how certain are you that all of them are white, U SOUND VERY NAIVE, YOU’RE, PRAY YOU NEVER WIND UP IN SUCH PREDICAMENT, BECAUSE WHAT GOES AROUND WILL SURELY COME BACK AROUND.

      • @Beekay…I can see you lack home training.you are the most horrible human being to jump into conclusions of things you weren’t sure about. For me to comment such, your frozen brain should guess,i know more about this.i have lived several years in London, before relocating to united state to join my husband and kids.i worked as CARE HEALTH ASSISTANT at hospitals, and homes. Most of these patient can make you do,and undo. Some are very rude, aggressive, and some will even categorically tell their career not to touch them, thereby resulting to racist statement from them. There are security cameras(cctv)in some homes, just to dictect how or what the career might be doing with the patient.some might even accused you of stealing their stuffs.unless a camera dictect her in that action, you can’t just believe a man, claiming the door was opened, and he saw her pulling a patient hair.Have you ever wonder what the man was doing their at overnight shift in someone else’s house at midnight?or have you ever ask how a door can be let wide open at midnight, cos if u read well, and intelligent, your brain should tell you,is all fabricated story.my advise to you is to always think deep, and not just think before you call someone horrible, cos to me,you lack knowledge, probably dull to have open ur brain to comment such thing. The worst part of it,is obvious you haven’t made your way of Nigeria, but you choose to turn yourself to a fool. There was a case of a British career who slapped a patient in his home, even caught by camera.i can tell you the case has gone down bcos,he is their own ppl.But anything that pertain to blacks, they seems not to find sleep until they acheive their aim.so girl, you better pray to God for geniue repentance, cos you ran to quick into conclusions for judging that woman.Am sure if she happen to be your family member, your view on this net wld v been different.Am not surprise, even we blacks are even the great enemy to ourselves. How on earth will you believe a white man over your own person?what a huge disappointment you are.Quote me,u disguist me!!!

  3. What a shame,There are lots of security cameras in hospitals & d street as well,There is no way they will lie against her becos they must have gone through d video b4 any action. Very few of d nurses r those dat really care 4 their patients & not about d check.Oluwaduni my dear, gone are d days when such act is done bcos nobody want to be sue or called a racists, dont forget d lady that was sacked bcos she said she dont wanna get AIDS from Africa.Things have change my dear unless is not so in London. Lets not forget America have a black man as their president.is a shame dat d woman happen to be from our place.i pray she is not guilty as we all wish for. Merry Christmase everybody including our loved ones that r in d war front right now fighting with d army to keep them fit on their feet. We luv u Red.

    • @Nnamdi…I have worked and live in London for several years, and I have worked as a HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT,before I relocated to united states after marriage to join my husband.i know what am talking about. Not all of them like blacks, and you should understand better. Some are very racist, and mostly the europeans.i am talking from experience [email protected] what do you know, have you ever live and work abroad before?Big mouth.if you are fortunate to have any of your family there, call, and ask them what they going through.you don’t need to tell me you are sick, you trurly are.

  4. let her lose are job, then she will know what a work look like,i dont blame her if she have proper document she will have full social security ,that means payment of her house rent ,doctors and money to eat, you can not only travell for holiday as you like, but to live fine is ok.if she dont have proper documents only to work for some yrs, then she have big problem to live, even maybe send back home, to country where 5 months university close down God have mercy, not to say more 10 to 12 bads things happen in the country where govt dont care i sorry for her future but if true all what they say ,she do that ,then good for her.she dont want to be old 1 day afterall she is 53yrs quater to go herself, most have repect for old ones ,is our culture as black africa and nigeria in general.

  5. Am still a nursing student here, from what was said I think d hospital are trying to avoid d person or family members talking a legal action against them.Am not saying she did it,some of the things they accuse her of doing is what some of d CNA’s do for use apart from black power. There was a case of a woman that employed a RN without knowing she records everything that happen when she is not there,u need to search d web & see how dis nurse beat up this old man like a dead horse 4 spilling water on his clothe.if u watch it u will cry cry like a baby 4 dis man.such r d treatment some nurses give to sick people.so I can not swear 4 her innocence or say she is guilty.let God help her.

  6. I WIL ALWAYS ADVISE OUR NIGERIAN NOT TO DO THIS KIND OF JOB , BECAUSE IT IS THE MOST DANGEROUS JOB THAT CAN LEAD YOU TO PRISON , BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE IN IT .

BECAUSE MY EXPERIENCE IN THIS JOB WAS JUST TOO MUCH FOR TWENTY EIGHT YEARS WORKING AS A CARE WORKER, I CAN WRITE BOOK ABOUT HOW CLIENT CAN PUT YOU INTO TROUBLE AND HOW SOME OF OUR NIGERIAN PUT THEMSELVES INTO TROUBLE ABROAD . SOME OF THEM ARE VERY NASTY TO CLIENTS , AND THEY BEHAVE LIKE A MAD DOG.

THERE WAS A LOT OF PRESSURE , WORKING IN THE NURSING HOME , BECAUSE HOW CAN THEY ASKED JUST ONE PERSON TO CARE FOR ALMOST FIFTY PEOPLE , WHO CAN NOT HELP THEMSELVES TO GO TO THE TOILET, OR BATHE THEMSELVES OR CHANGE THE EMPTY THE COMMODE THEMSELVES , THE COUNCIL USED BLACK PEOPLE LIKE A SLAVES AND SOME OF THE CLIENTS ARE RACIST,

SOMETIMES, WHEN YOU WANT TO TAKE CARE OF SOME CLIENTS , THEY WILL SHOUT AT YOU AND SAID , I DO NOT WANT YOUR FUCKING BLACK HAND ON MY BODY.

WHEN YOU COME ACROSS THIS KIND OF CLIENTS , THE COUNCIL HAVE ALREADY TOLD US THAT , PLEASE DO NOT STRUGGLE WITH THEM , PHONE TO YOUR MANAGER AND REPORT THE ISSUE . BUT OUR NIGERIAN WANT TO SHOW THAT , THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY LIKE . SO THIS LADY IS THE CAUSE OF HER PROBLEM, SHE WILL GO TO HOLLOWAY WOMEN PRISON OR PENTOVIL PRISON FOR AT LEASE FIVE TO TEN YEARS.

WELCOME TO HOLLOWAY PRISON , COME IN MY DEAR LADY , OLORIKUNKUN, KNOCKLEHEADULLER. E KA AAAAA ABO, SE DAAA DA LE EE DE PRISON .

WHAT YOU MUST KNOW , IF YOU SERVE YOUR FIVE YEARS JAIL, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WORK ANYWHERE, AND YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN HOUSING , OR ANY BENEFIT.

WHEN I WAS WORKING AS CARER , I WAS ARRESTED FOR OVER TEN TIMES , ACCUSED FOR SO MANY THINGS , I THANK GOD , THAT I WAS NOT IN PRISON , I HAVE KEPT MYSELF AWAY FROM THIS SO CALLED CARE WORKER. THE NEW LAW WAS VERY HARSH, IT WAS HELL.

  7. What is so funny, she better wipe that smile off her face, silly woman if you don’t have patience why did you have to choose that occupation? oh the money off course,This has nothing to do with Racism period, those people are helpless the last thing they want to experience is abuse…. evil woman, she should be dealt with.

  8. yes..it could be racially instigated and also petty nurses like short cuts..u want to work 16hrs for 7 days to make big bucks but forgot u must break ur sweat to hv it..most hall ways hv cameras and hope the assistant can prove it as well.was pics tendered showing where hair was pulled?cellphone can assist in the ongoing case

  9. @ BeeKay thank u v much, this oluwadunni is a v horrible person, full of evil & so full of lies & sick as u said v well.why is this person always insulting people on social media .Am very sure she is in a village & only see Albion who she mistake 4 whites in her village.whoever this person is have never see proper development.He/she want to be noticed & is a good noise maker.why do u have to fight & insult people d way u always do in all of d comment u have posted here ?. I think u r lacking or missing out on something in ur life & some bad like ur broda or sister called Bezo.

  10. @gist,u can drop ur number, and let me call you right away.currently in the UK now for my Xmas holiday.i base in united state with my family, but we came over to visit my parent in the uk.or better still call or send a message to me to be able to call you back on-+447884549994.so I can educate you more.Am totally different from ppl who pretend to what they are not.i v worked several years in uk,i only changed my location due to marriage.so am over [email protected] sure of what am talking about.

  11. @beekay$gist…probably u were not even yet conceived before have been travelling so I know difft between Albino$white.

  12. To those people who say the whites are racist in this case, it shows a clear lack f common sense. Ask ost Africans, asians and latinos who they would want as a carer for a loved one, and they would all skip their own kind. I am fully Nigerian and it is appalling the way majority of the Africans in care treat their fellow humans. Same for Filipinos and other folks, it is horrible the way they treat their humanas as care for those in need is not a top priority in these places. Ask yourselves the question, how do people back home treat people who are not direct family etc. When was the last time you went out of your way to make sure a disabled person had a nice day. Go to the mental homes in Nigeria and see how they treat those with mental health issues (Mental health is really non existent in NIgeria) and hence use of phrase Kolo Mental. Nigerians here even bring people from back home and use distant relatives as house boys in 2013. If house boys etc can be treated as slaves by loved ones, how much more disabled or mentally disabled people y this woman. Who gave her the right to turn off the call bell? Are people dumb on this forum or just plain stupid. You dont turn this stuff off as it can save a life in need. Those who support her despite this evidence are sick in the head with evil.

  13. Hi oluwadunni I now know why they call u noise maker. This is my first time of posting here but i am true follower of this wonder site.sometime ago you were fighting non stop with another lady & Mr Hunter here when you said you are a lawyer at New york,no 2 you said here yourself that your parents are in Nigeria & can visit your kids if they want than travelling to Nigeria to avoid kidnapping .stop disgracing yourself with all your skycrapper lies.I don’t like women who lie and fight without taking correction even when wrong.if you are married as you claim bcos I can’t believe any thing that comes from your mouth then i pity your so called husband and what he goes through you.I don’t think there is ever a time you come here without abusing people which is very bad becos that shows you are very bitter and is looking for where to off load it.why do you have to always abuse people like this my sister,do you need anybody to talk about it,this your way does not tell good of you.Am a guy in LA & most of your comment and the way you abuse and insult people as if they are fools don’t always go well with me & sometimes just mess up my day,pls olu,do not make the good people run from this beautiful place because of you.A guy can now the quality a woman have by the way she address people and talk not this your ghetto curses. As for the number youdropped,it shows desperation to belong or be seen and know, when i was at Denmark,A friend/relation of mine from Nigeria will post my number as his to some people and friends and claim is his then call me to play the role of him so that they will think he is in Denmark so the number makes no sense friend.Try and take correction and pls, pls stop the insult it does tell good of you.I also wish to use this as open letter to everybody here including the likes of Bezo and Mr Anambra kweun & co. Thank you very much and have a blessed new year you all.lnnocent

  14. U ar right P, I’m a student nurse n I knw wt all dese staff nurses ar capable of doin, even wt d look on her face u don’t need a soothsayer 2 tel u she can do dat

  15. Thank you very much Mr Innocent 4 ur open letter & correction,is a pity & shameful 2 me dat my name is on ur not so good list,I know i have over reacted with my words sometimes.pls do not ever place I & bezo in same category again bcos I have never sound like him.Thank u.

  16. Actually I am not surprised by the allegations. It may or may notnbe true though but have you noticed what healthcare professionals are like in Nigeria? In fact all classes of workers. Its almost as if they expect you to beg or bribe for your rights to be given to you. Health care professionals are actually supposed to operate on an impeccable moral code. A patient insults you is no reason to turn on them. A patient is aggressive is reason to show patience and self dignity. Nigerians in the medical profession simply don’t get that. Now they go abroad and think they can carry that beastly attitude along and still enjoy the fat remuneration? They should think again. Nigerians complain about racism from whites but what happens in Nigeria is so much worse. Go to hospitals general or private and see how staff treat vulnerable patients. Its so pathetic.
