November 9, 2016 – Nigerians Mock Prof Wole Soyinka, Order Him To Tear His US Green Card

Nigerians have dared Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, to make good his promise to tear his Green Card should Mr. Donald J. Trump be elected President of the United States of America.

Professor Wole Soyinka, who is a scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs, penultimate week, said: “If in the unlikely event he (Trump) does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that.”

“The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up,” he said.

Mr. Trump a, Washington outsider, representing the Republican Party was yesterday elected 45th President of the United States of America, having polled 289 electoral votes.

He trounced his closest rival, Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party, who polled 218 electoral votes, 52 votes shy of the 270 electoral votes required.

  3. Dear Prof, you don’t need to tear up your green card. I wish it was transferrable so you could give it to a needy Nigerian. Sir, return to Nigeria and live with no electricity for one month (transformer stolen, or taken out and sold by NEPA officials). Who would dare steal a high voltage equipment but an insider? Donald Trump would be happy for aliens (as they call us), to return to their countries. If Nigeria was so attractive to live, why do people risk their lives to seek refuge abroad? Let us be grateful for the opportunity and choice to be able to see civilization. I am very grateful, ni temi o.

  4. America election has come and gone..sometimes we can say or wish for something but it happens otherwise…but there must be a lesson to learn, as for this election, people suppose to learn how to be rational in their thinking because the motive of this media (mainstream) is to derail your reasoning ability and control your mind, just to believe in whatever they say and the worst part is they know that they are giving out false information.

So people need to be very careful on what they are listening to or watching… pray and let God guides you.

  5. It all seemed like many people are so insensitive to the latest shock that have just overwhelmed the entire world. Soyinka’s statement or pledge to shred his Green card is not the reason why am appalled, but the fact that our people failed to learn the reasonable lesson from the reality of which the Man made such a remarks. Education is mostly the key to unlock door of success. Soyinka commands a high integrity of global recognition and respect. we should all be proud of him and celebrate his achievements.
