Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola who was recently accused of bagging a degree in UNILAG without attending classes like his class mates has denied the accusation.
In a phone chat with Sunday Scoop, the father of 4 said his classmates can testify that he attended lectures just like every other students on campus.
His words:
“Being in school was a really thrilling experience for me. I was humbled in the sense that I had to attend classes, do assignments, sit for exams and carry out other academic activities. I had a good relationship with all the lecturers that taught me and the students too.
There was nothing like celebrity status. As long as we were in the classroom together, we were all one in our quest for knowledge. One should never get tired of seeking knowledge because the world is dynamic and ever-changing,” he said.
“I attended classes regularly and I did everything I was required to do. My course mates can testify. I was not a stranger to any of my course mates because I usually attended classes. I was the one who made the decision to go to school.
I knew what it entailed and I was ready to adhere to the rules. I can tell you that I worked hard for my certificate.”

THE question is,who are those that accused him of not attending classes? Though from Nigeria standard of doing things,as long as you have money, you can buy certificate, and everything is about connection and not by merit, that’s why the country is going backwards on a high speed.

There is no doubt that this guy of the Yoruba A’s Actor. I love his acting prowess, in fact he can act. However, closely examining how he get his degree cannot be ignored. This guy is busy all year round. He has had his schedule for the whole calendar year besides, he must go to the classes and at the same time complete his marital duties. I’m not questioning him on how he get his degree but combining these three activities means he must be super dynamic.
Back in the 80″s some of my friends who were NCE holders back then used students long term vacation to complete their degrees. Whenever students were out of school for the period of 3 months, they used that period to pursue their part time Bachelor’s degree and it takes them 2 1/2 to 3 years to complete depending how they want to achieve that. Now, as a celebrity, can Odunlade bribe his way out of Nigeria academic institution to achieve his degree yes! it is possible in todays Nigeria Universities. Do you think if this guy had enrolled in part time spending 6 years instead of 4years program people might not raise an eye brow? yes it is possible.
Pursuing degree program is different from preparing for GCE or WASCE. Even with that, one needs all time to fully prepared for the exam. The question is can Odunlade attends classes, present in almost every Yoruba movie and complete his home duties at the same time? hummmmmnnnn…….. let any one ask me why people will not question his certificate authenticity.
