A source at a private hospital where some of the victims of Lagos Tanker fire were rushed to yesterday said over 45 people were killed in the tragic fire.

Although the Lagos State Government reduced the death toll to 9, the medical source said it was a cover up to calm down the minds of residents of the sunshine state.

The incident which happened during rush hour at 5pm on Thursday was caused by a fuel tanker which fell while ascending the notorious death spot and caught fire.

The source said his colleague working at one of the public  hospitals around the place witnessed rescue team as they brought in the burnt remains of 45 people.

As at the time of this report, the fate of the 15 people (5 men, 10 women) in critical condition is unknown.
