On Friday, some delegates from Igboland visited the Hilltop mansion of elder statesman, Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo in Abeokuta.

Sources claimed that the delegates led by Chief Austine Nkeze went there to seek Obasanjo’s advice for the upcoming February 14 elections

Check out Obasanjo rocking Igbo traditional attire…

The truth is, let’s interogate the reasons why Governor Okorocha decides to align with APC and not any other party in Nigeria, the reasons he gave for dumping the party that gave him the ticket to become governor. Okorocha is a self made man and does not need anybody’s money to switch his loyalty that easily. Okorocha was more futuristic in his thinking for the Igbo nation in the Nigerian socio political equation and not for any personal gains therefore, the earlier someone like Okorocha is recognised as having charted the right course for his people the better. Self actualisation and recognition is right in every sense for any ethnic group but, this must be carefully embarked upon in order to take advange of other ethnic tribes who are sympathetic to that course and, that is where the South West comes handy because, the South West is ever ready to embrace an Igbo President whenever and whatever time its due without qualm. The Igbos visit to Obasanjo is not a sign of weakness or a submission to rival tribe but a strategic move that is most certainly likely to yield a political dividend in the near future. The earlier the Igbos begin to speak with one voice and to realign their political leaniage and alliances with the South West where they naturally belong the better. There should be no unneccessary sentimental attachment to the past which has not yielded any political benefit as far as geopolitical equations are concerned. Igbos are an integral parts of the history of pre-independence Nigeria and continue to contribute immencely to the growth of Nigeria today, its only natural that an Igbo leadership of Nigeria should be a matter of natural justice but, this can only be achieved when Igbos actions and inactions are intently devoid of accrimony and genuingly tailored towards working with the South West who are their natural allies. Yorubas of the South West are never too rigid about anything politics in Nigeria as far as leadership of Nigeria is concerned but only abhors total neglet of developments that the ordinary down trodden people benefit from. The Igbos visit to Obasanjo I believe is a tactical poltical move to begin to probably reason alongside people like Okorocha and the rest of Igbo political leadership and to begin to chart a different path from the past stringent and rigid attachments to the Biafran war history that seem stale and dead and, not helping the course of Nigerian unity. History is very replete about the 2nd World war when more than six million Jews were annihilated by the Germans with an intention to wipe off the surface of earth the race called Jews but, today eventhough very many kilometres apart between the two territories; confidence amd mutual trust has been restored and Germans remains the best friends of Isael in Europe. Our friends from the Igbo Eastern States Nigerian corridor should continue the good work they have started and, I am convinced in not too distant future they’ll find their South Western friends advocating for “IGBO PRESIDENCY IS RIPE AND MUST BE NOW” I commend your move. LONG LIVE IGBO NATION, LONG LIVE NIGERIA.

Many Nigerians will go to heal fire for trusting the arm of flesh. Instead of them to seek for the face of God and pray for Peace for Nigeria for the forthcoming election, they decided to go and seek for Obasanjo advice.
