South African Firm MTN Threatens To Sack 6000 Nigerians If FG Revenges Xenophobia
April 21, 2015 – South African Firm MTN Threatens To Fire 6000 Nigerians If FG Forced Them Out Over Xenophobia
South Africa-owned telecommunication firm, MTN yesterday threatened to fire 6000 Nigerians if they are forced out of Nigeria over the ongoing Xenophobia in South Africa.
According to the Corporate Service Executive, MTN Nigeria, Mr. Wale Goodluck, who addresed the media after a two groups of protesters in Abuja and Benin converged in front of MTN against killing of foreigners in its home country, South Africa
“There are only 12 expatriates working for the company in the country, compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians.
“So, if people go ahead with their threats to attack our facilities, what that means is that we may be forced to close down the business in Nigeria and about 6,000 Nigerians that make up 99 per cent of our workforce will be unemployed.
“Then, when you look at our support chain, we have about 500,000 Nigerians gainfully employed. So, boycotting our services simply means destroying so many other Nigerian businesses and making over 500,000 other Nigerians to lose their jobs.
“This business supports a lot of businesses across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Many of the businesses that are affiliated to South Africa are in the retail space, supporting the growth of Nigeria and employing so many Nigerians.”
“We see no revenge of Xenophobia and we commend the role the Nigerian High Commissioner in South Africa has played; at least there has been no fatality on the part of any Nigerian,”.
Is MTN threatening Nigerians????

SO, DOES IT MEAN , THERE ARE NO NIGERIAN WHO CAN HANDLE THIS SAME BUSINESS, WHAT WE SHOULD DO IS TO JUST CHANGE THEIR NAME AND CARRY ON THE BUSINESS. THAT IT IS .
THE SOUTH AFRICA WHO OWN THE BUSINESS WERE NOT BORN WITH IT, WE CAN AS WELL SET UP THE SAME BUSINESS.

That is bullsh*t! Totally stup*d talk! There are better ways of conveying such messages without sounding threatening. The Corporate Service Executive has just tarnished the image of MTN instead of redeeming it. Did he not learn anything about speaking to the press or public during his (I assume) trainings and experience? How can you utter such statements to the public? People just talk carelessly to Nigerians. Can he say that to the citizens of another country? Ok, so MTN is doing us a favour by being in Nigeria? I bet you the only reason they are in Nigeria is because that is where the highest percentage of their profits come from not because they like or care about Nigeria or Nigerians. Nonsense!!!

Dis is where d truth pains. MTN goes, thousands of Nigerians becom jobless, & dat would definitely cos diz thousands–and many mor–2 blame d FG 4 not being deplomatic enof. So d FG’s hands are tied in view of dis.
Moreover, MTN is not ownd by d govt of SA (or is it?). D/4 making dem a scapegoat would b shooting d bullet@d wrong mark.
Evry message could b interprted in many ways by diverse peopl. Dis one is not a threat, @least 4me: it is d stark reality.

For all those in this forum responding with nothing good to say, Please I beg you to have you peace to your self, To Hell with MTN what in the hell they think they are? If not for our good for nothing President Jonathan. A product of a confused mind and such a bastard that had the gods to spend 2 trillion on an election the bastard lost.6000 people losing jobs and so what, Nigerians are already jobless and its happens everyday, Nigerians have more than 15 million unemployed GRADUATES… So if threatening Nigerians is the best way to respond to lost lives in SA. Then they can go to hell because we can do better and we have GLOBACOM, its a very good way to boost GLOBACOM the indigenous company and they can take over from where MTN stopped by covering all the spot they left and more than 6000 will be gainfully employed. What they hell do they think they are to address killing with people losing jobs it don’t even match up.
People rather be jobless and later be gainfully employed with an indigenous company than we losing life. South African are killing and looting fellow African brothers and MTN are there talking about their pocket. They don’t care about 6,000 Nigerians losing jobs they are concern about on what they are going to lose in the long run.
So now I employ our government to rise up to Justice and do it right for this so called nasty MTN coward threatening Nigerians in their land.
@ Kunle Ihalor you are such a big ignoramus for making my government less important and glorifying this nasty MTN, you must be a recharge card seller scared to lose your business, If MTN leaves Nigerians today, 20,000 jobs will be created with Nigerian alone running the show, so Kunle way up from your SLUMBER and be proud of your government, regardless how it it. U will never be a south African. Nigeria made you what ever you are today.
@ Adeola you are a true Nigerian.. God bless you
@ Mrs Ohio alias Eranko true talk , Long Live Nigeria
@Obi a lot of things concerns MTN with what is happening in south Africa, because if your BLOCK BRAIN see videos of how innocent African are been killed for no reason and MTN business thrives in other African country, Please Obi if you don’t know what to say please don’t even bother open your bucal cavity because you real don’t get what is going on.
My dear Nigerians two wrongs don’t make a right , but we need to have our government nip this at its bud and let South Africa know that we liberated them from the shackles of the WHITES. Now they have the gods to say Africans are immigrants, Are you kidding me…….

MTN is toying with the retaliatory actions Nigeria can bring to bare on South African Investments. If MTN and their South African Investors care to know, they could go into history books and find out why the British Standard Bank; now Standard Chatered Bank, BP Petroleum & its Explorations, Barclays Bank etc. siezes to operate in Nigeria. These companies were proscribed and operations wound up, their assets acquired and paid for in whole and asked to leave the shores of Nigeria under the regime of Gen. Obasanjo, ironically this drastic decisions were taken in support of South African apartheid freedom struggle. British Airways under Abacha’s regime was equally banned from flying to Nigeria for close to two years. BA lost one of their most lucrative routes to other European Airlines; it took backdoor diplomacy to get them flying to Nigeria again, an action that resulted into one of BA’s biggest losses in recent memory. Nigerian employees of these British companies when the actions were taken topped more than 100,000 yet, Nigeria cared less and survived the consequencies. South Africans will be the bigger loosers if all their companies operations are blocked from operating Nigeria. South Africa should note Nigeria is a stubbon country with very tough character and courageous people never matched by any country on the continent of Africa. Its for Nigerian tough charater that stands the Nigerian out wherever you find one and South African companies should be careful what threat they issue because Nigeria nation doesn’t really bother about any vague threat.

Kunle,u r not serious does it means if MTN leave the shore of Nigeria the citizens will die far be from it. Before the advent of MTN is Nigerians not working? MTN is talking about 6,000 people out several million of Nigerians, let us forget this self centred attitude Mr.Wale Godluck and save Nigerians from poverty, working with MTN does not mean u r the best. Can ur family be attacked and brutalised and you will be happy. MTN is free to go. Exploitation of MTN is too much. MTN leave Nigeria go give your youth the jobs they are agitating for.

So MTN is telling me they are happy for the killing of the blacks and looting their shops in their South Africa or what. Why the threat. We will loose and they will loose more. They make exorbitant profits here in Nigeria becos of high tarriff and the peanut the pay Nigerian workers is what they think we are going to loose. They are to accept the blame and plead with Nigerians to calm down not to threaten us. What do they call xenophobia – feeling of killing another person without any provocation. Its wickedness. MTN should know his people are just WICKED.

Giant of Africa wake up and restore your dignity, look at South Africa and Ghana that we helped have now forgotten and outgrown us. Very soon Liberia that we lost few of our good men defending will rise up above and against us. Instead of MTN to advocate for peace and reconciliation, they are reminding us that without them Nigeria economy will fall. Do I blame them, I blame our government who have refused to seat up and restore our good name. Nigeria is capable, imagine how our goverment quickly sat up united in fighting ebola just because it also concerns their immediate health and that of their family, but when it comes to killing the poor citizens and downgrading our economy they turn a blind eye, Jesus please have mercy on us.

firstly, no services provided by MTN that can not be replaced, Nigeria and Nigerians have no sense of direction so to say or notional identity our brothers nd their families are attacked on a daily basis some killed others lost all their lifely-hood MTN instead of sympathizing with Nigerians and the people who are going through these night- mares they treating us again in our own soil fuck them. Govt of this country are wake demand they should apologize or leave is time a msgs should be sent out it will not be accepted anymore killing our country men by this animals in south Africa. if a strong Msg is nt sent out now am sure it will start again in few yrs. BIG FOR NOTHING so to say The largest black nation on earth is a joke, lead by example if our Leaders are doing their job instead of stealing MTN will nt have the mouth to say that bullshit.

Dear All
Here is my humble & sober opinion:
1. Everyove who sees this MTN release as a “threat” is emotional.
2. Xenophobia against fellow black Africans is a stupid, evil, barbaric, and animalistic act. Black on black violence is the SOUTH AFRICAN government responsibility because even President Jacob Zuma through his utterances has xenophobic regard for fellow African countries such his comments about Malawi.
3. The fact is that only 7 human being were killed since the xenophobic violence began on Saturday 4 April 2015. 3 of the people killed in the violence were South African, and ZERO Nigerians were killed.
4. In 2008 and in SA, 60 people died due to the xenophobic violenece, and ZERO Nigerians were also killed – NONE!
5. MTN Nigeria employed 12 South Africans – mostly white! It is time that the very many competent BLACK people of Nigeria, begun driving MTN out of Nigeria.
6. As we speak, and as at Friday 24 April 2015, the South African government has declared a state of Army. The President of South African sent the army to stop the xenophobic nonsence. There violence has stopped.
7. Nigeria does not need South Africa.
8. President Jacob Zuma issued an apology to all affected Africans extending his message of PEACE to the Nigerian people living within South Africa.
9. The majority of South Africans are against xenophobia.
My message to everyone is:
THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA ARE NOT XENOPHOBIC.
THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA LOVE NIGERIANS.

Do you blame him & his stupid words. If there are jobs in Nigeria, will these threats ever come out of his mouth? Who is South Africa to threating Nigeria who spent great amount of money to give them independent? Nigeria govt. creat jobs for ur citizens to stop insult from baby countries like South Africa.
