Tonto Dikeh Urges Pastors To Help Church Members In Need
Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has berated late Michael Arowosaiye‘s Pastor for allowing him to slip into depression and ignoring his pleas.
Her comment is coming days after the former RCCG worship leader took his own life over financial hardship.
Here is Tonto‘s full comment on the heartbreaking suicide news that rocked Abuja few days ago.
“I’m the last person who will ever speak ill of a pastor or church,” the actress began.
“But how can a pastor seat back and watch a core member who handles the microphone on Sundays to lead praise and worship not be able to pay house rent to the point of falling into deep depression and eventually takes his own life!!
“I am not a pastor, never might be but no one who ever comes to me with a problem goes home remaining the same!
“I will be damn the day that happens! Yes you can’t give all your church members help but man, the church workers etc should be helped!
“Some of these folks go to church every single day for hours working, sew department uniforms for every service with their money, use their own money for transport,to look up to standard to be on your pulpit.
“Some will receive beatings from parents/husband/boyfriend about late night ‘waka’ and they end up not receiving a dime and you say they working for God!
“God doesn’t run a slave trade, God even appreciates you with tithes and offering so why do you think others should work in vain!
“I am one Christian who believe God is extremely partial and more forgiving on Pastors than the rest of us, hence I stay away from their talk!
“Well why wouldn’t he be, they serve him!! DEAR PASTORS YOU NEED TO CARE MORE!!
#RIP TO A CHRISTIAN BROTHER.”

I’m not a fan of this lady. But on this one,I give her my support. Some of the so called pastors only care for for themselves and their families. Please don’t crucify Tonto on this one.

I AGREE with Tonto here. This is perhaps the greatest shortcoming of pastors. They think everybody should sow seeds in the church, and that it is an oddity for the church to sow a seed in turn in an individual’s life.
I HAVE a firsthand experience in this regards: I found myself in a dire financial strait late last year. I told my pastor about it(I, being a chorister).
NOW, I MUST SAY I claim no entitlements for the mere sake of being a chorister. Again, the church cannot always help every particular member coming down with a need. But what hurt me more than my pastor’s “inability” to help me was his holy unconcern: He never asked me about it afterwards, even though he was seeing me every other Sunday.
WELL, IT HURT so deep. But I rather chose to remember that my pastor is human after all: he could disappoint; he could forget. That’s no cause enough for me to stop church, or worse still, take my life.
