Despite being the most available liquid, water is still one of the most overlooked liquids today. I mean, technically how many times do you drink water in a day?.
We fail to realize that asides quenching your thirst, there are so many other things that drinking water does for you. This is why sometimes we only remember to drink water when we feel thirsty. On the contrary, water should be part of our routine for each day. Health authorities recommend about 8 ounce glasses, which is equivalent to 2 liters or half a gallon of water daily. 60% of our body is composed of water. We lose water by urinating, sweating, and other activities.
Here are five things you probably did not know about drinking sufficient amount of water;
Water Prevents And Treats Headaches
The truth is that nature has a cure for most of the minor illnesses we suffer. So the next time your head hurts, instead of popping pills, try drinking a full glass of water and properly resting. Studies have shown that dehydration can cause headaches in some individuals. Drinking water may not stop it totally, but will most likely reduce the intensity of the headache. So replace the pills with a glass of water and a little rest.
Relieves Fatigue
This is one of the reasons we are advised to take water first when we wake in the morning. Water has a way of boosting your energy level and also helping you focus or increase your concentration level. Taking water will reduce any dull feeling or fatigue hanging around you. This is why athletes always have water around them, and during exercise your body requires water and also notice the way water changes your sleepy mode to active mode.
Helps weight loss
You know how you feel heavy after a large intake of water, this single act can reduce your hunger level thereby reducing the amount of food you are able to consume, this in turn helps keep your weight in check. His is why we are advised to drink water after meals, not before or during. But for those who want to lose weight, try doing it the other way. Try drinking water half an hour before your meal. Water also contains no calories, and removes the by-products of fat from your system.
Skin improvement
There is a certain glow which is associated with your skin when you take sufficient amount of water. Water is in fact, the best ant-aging treatment around. Water flushes toxins from the skin If your skin does not get enough water, it can often form chapped and dry feeling skin.
To relieve constipation
Constipation is common. It is a condition where people experience difficulty in passing stool. Not taking enough water can lead to constipation in the first place, so to cure it, try increasing your water intake.
Water is not an option, it is in fact a necessity. Remember it has other functions like boosting your brain function and maximizing physical performance. Increase your water intake today, and watch out for positive results.
Absolutely true! but when will our Government going to start providing us portable drinking water as in late 60’s and 70’s. Now everybody has to dig a bore-hole for water utility. One thing we never realize is, most of diseases we are battling everyday in Nigeria is caused by untreated water. Ulcer, Typhoid fever, Kidney disease etc are caused by infected water. Most people think water from bore hole is safe to drink but if you don’t treat it well, this can cause enormous damage to our body system.
When it rains or during flooding most human feces, animal feces and other harmful bacteria caused by poor sanitation find their way back into the ground and infiltrate our ground water system through seepage. Digging a traditional well or a Bore hole does not make the water fits for drinking immediately. In those good days public water was good for consumption because the government back then through Water Corporation spent money to treat the water with Fluoride. Treating water with fluoride kills 95% of water bacteria and provides strong bone denture to our teeth. Our problem in Africa is our inability to spend our money in the right channel. We always think money can buy everything because we are accessible to it whereas people can use that money to buy sickness and death for themselves if they are not well informed.
We enjoyed the benefit of pipe borne water when white people are directing our affairs but now we can not even think of maintaining these infrastructures let alone providing new ones for ourselves yet our leaders are squandering Billions of dollars to be kept in overseas private account pretend everything is okay with us whereas people are dying in our mother land because we cannot provide for ourselves common basic amenities. The most funniest part of this is, we are so proud to be the giant of Africa. Giant without nothing to show for it. Giant with running mouth only. Everytime some important topic like this pops up, it makes me weep for this Country.
