Outrage As Woman Steals Newborn Baby In Bauchi

Teenage Duo Apprehended in Bauchi State for Alleged Newborn Baby Theft

In a turn of events that has sent shockwaves through the quiet community of Ishehi Hamlet in the Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State, a young woman of only 19 years has been apprehended by law enforcement officials for allegedly making off with a newborn baby. The suspected baby-snatcher, named Hajara Usman, purportedly worked in collusion with a young man, 18-year-old Ibrahim Usman, who hails from the hamlet of Dugurgama.

This striking revelation was disseminated to the press on Thursday by Ahmed Wakil, the individual in charge of public communications for the Bauchi State Police Command. Wakil indicated that the theft of the newborn baby had been reported to the Akuyam Police Outstation by an individual from the Galawa Area of the Akuyam District in the Misau Local Government Area, who happened to be the grandfather of the stolen infant. The baby had been mysteriously taken in the early hours of the morning, around 4:30 am.

Wakil gave a comprehensive account, stating, “On the 25th of July, 2023, at approximately 7:00 am, one Adamu Baka, aged 55, residing in the Galawa area of the Akuyam district within Misau local government area, arrived at the Akuyam outstation to report a disturbing incident. He claimed that around 4:30 am, unknown individuals had broken into his daughter’s living quarters, where she had recently given birth, and absconded with the newborn baby.”

Upon receiving the alarming report, a team of skilled detectives was promptly assembled and launched into action. Their dogged efforts led to the eventual arrest of the culprits and the retrieval of the newborn baby, who had ended up in the possession of Hajara Usman. She had purportedly conspired with Ibrahim Usman to orchestrate the shocking theft.

According to Wakil, a comprehensive investigation is currently in progress to unravel any undisclosed motives that might have driven the duo to commit such a heinous act. Once the investigation is concluded, and if any criminal activities are confirmed, the suspects will face prosecution for their alleged actions.

In another development, Wakil revealed that detectives from the command were successful in retrieving a sack containing an AK-47 rifle along with six rounds of live ammunition. The weaponry was reportedly abandoned by an unidentified individual upon spotting security forces. This incident took place on July 23rd, 2023, around 9:30 pm, following credible intelligence received from the village head of Sabon Garin Tulu.

Wakil further stated that the Commissioner of Police has emphasized to all operatives of the command the critical importance of robust intelligence gathering in today’s policing scenario. The Commissioner highlighted the crucial roles played by community engagement and traditional intelligence-gathering mechanisms, urging all officers to incorporate these strategies in their routine policing duties.
