March 24, 2016 – Latest News On Yewande Oyediran Fatoki’s Trial: Lowo Oyediran’s Family Hires Private Lawyer, Prosecutor To Prosecute Alleged Husband Killer, Rejects Oyo’s State Prosecutor
Yewande Oyediran’s trial has been adjourned till April 18. The family of her victim, Lowo Oyediran has applied for engagement of a private counsel to prosecute the case of alleged murder.
During the proceedings yesterday, counsel to the complainant, Lowo’s family, Chief Yomi Aliu, told the court that the family had applied to the DPP for a fiat to employ the services of a private legal practitioner to prosecute Yewande instead of the state prosecuting her.
Abimbola, the state Chief Judge, asked the DPP counsel, Mr. Tajudeen Abdul- Ganiyu, to apprise him with the current status of the application for the fiat. Acknowledging receipt of the fiat, Abdul- Ganiyu explained that applications had been made to the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on the matter.
Yewande allegedly stabbed her husband, Lowo Oyediran in the neck on February 2, which led to his death.
