2 Nigerian Students, Romance Scammers Arrested In Kuala Lumpur Malaysia For Duping American Businesswoman Desperately Looking For Love In Malaysia
Police in Malaysia have arrested two Nigerian students, turned romance scammers for allegedly sweet-talking an elderly American single woman desperately looking for love.
The suspects currently in police custody were arrested on Monday after luring the construction billionaire to Malaysia from her base in the US.
The 77 year old victim who had travelled to Malaysia to meet her online lover face to face was shocked when the scammers lured her to an undisclosed hotel, robbed her of her belongings and abandoned her.
Through sweet talk, the swindlers were able to manipulate the elderly woman into wiring $225,000 to an account. She also sent them additional $60,000 on two instances via packages through a courier service when they set her up for a fake meet-up in Malaysia.
Two Nigerian students aged 26 and 33 have been arrested in connection with the crime.
