Eiye Cultist Caught Hiding Cutlass In Trouser Charged With Cultism
Adeyemi Ridwan, today appeared in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly belonging to the ‘Eiye’ confraternity.
Ridwan, 18, who resides at Enitire St., Pako-Mushin, Itire Road, Lagos, had pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, belonging to an unlawful society and possession of dangerous weapons.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, had told the court that the offences were committed on Oct. 27 at about 5:30 p.m. at Pako bus-stop, Itire, Mushin Area of Lagos.
Ihiehie said that the accused, and five others now at large, were arrested by the Insp. Boniface Ukoha’s Surveillance team on Itire Road by Ifako bus-stop, on a tip-off.
He said that the accused was arrested with a short cutlass hidden inside his jeans trouser.
The prosecutor said that the case was reported to the Anti-Cultism Unit, Gbagada, on Oct. 28.
He said the offences contravened Sections 42 (9), 51 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Kubenje said that the sureties must show proof of means of livelihood, with evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government for two years.
She adjourned the case was until Dec. 4, for hearing. (NAN)
