LASU Student Caught Smoking Indian Hemp On Campus Suspended
June 12, 2016 – LASU Student Caught Smoking Indian Hemp On Campus Suspended
The Lagos State University has suspended a second year Computer Science undergraduate, (name withheld), for being in possession of a substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (Indian hemp).
The suspension is contained in the university’s bulletin made available on Sunday in Lagos.
The bulletin said the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, suspended the student in line with the powers conferred on him by Section 28 of the Law establishing the institution.
According to the bulletin, the suspension will subsist until he appears before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee of the university to defend himself.
It said the institution’s security men apprehended him on May 3, 2016, with the suspected substance.
The bulletin said that possession of such hard drugs contravened the rules and regulations governing the university.
“In view of this development, the student is not expected to participate in the academic activities of the university until the suspension is lifted.’’
