Nigerians Stand By Busola & Timi Dakolo Over Biodun Fatoyinbo Alleged Rape Attack

By NG News

Soul Singer Timi Dakolo has thanked Nigerians for supporting him and his family for his family since his wife, Busola Dakolo granted an interview, alleging that she was raped Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, when she was a teenager.

He took to Instagram account on Sunday to share his appreciation. In his note, he also appealed for Nigerians to report rape incidents, especially when it happens in a church.

Busola and I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support and most importantly – action, following her story told on Friday.

“We thank you, Nigeria. We thank you most deeply for helping make this moment count.

“We also thank the team of people who have been helping us since Busola decided to tell her story months ago.

“Because of them, Busola’s story has sparked a movement called #NotInMyChurch – to help other survivors of sexua abuse in the church find help, justice an healing. I am grateful to Enough is Enough Nigeria @eienigeria for helping to drive this movement.

“Please upload stories about abuse or rape, especially in the church on notinmychurch.ng and to partner with or support the work they are doing to help survivors speak out, find help or get justice, please email info@notinmychurch.ng.

“We can truly make this moment matter beyond just Busola’s story. She is speaking on behalf of those who haven’t yet been able to speak, and thousands who have now begin to find their voices.”

Since the story broke, many celebrities and other citizens have aligned with Timi’s wife, using the hashtag, ‘IStand WithBusola on social media to express their support.

Many Nigerians have also saluted Timi for standing behind his wife in the face of the matter.

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe said “Welldone Bro! Na Man you be, God bless you.”

On Air Personality and author, Toke Makinwa, and actress Lala Akindoju also wrote, “God bless you.”

Before his wife came out openly to accuse pastor Fatoyinbo, Timi Dakolo had been spearheading a campaign against rape.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, protesters stormed COZA church in Abuja.

It’s not easy to come out. I salute her courage. Many of us are still battling and suffering the emotions in silence decades after.

It is not as easy as people think. Remember she was a very young scared and unprotected teenager. She saw this man as her spiritual father. She eventually told her family members & some pastors who swept it under the carpet to protect the “man of dog’ s image. Thank God she came out. Many women have similar stories but are ashamed & embarrassed to come out.

At least, her story has become a national news and that has given her and hubby some more popularity because if not that she came out with her rape allegations I won’t have known her.

But Nigeria is truly heading nowhere as a country…the killing and kidnapping happening should be more worrisome than this, no doubt that most of Nigeria (fake) pastors are working in pari passu with (FG) Fulani government, just for one reason, to keep people in the dark, but the publicity accorded to this incident is to divert people’s attention from the real issue and main agenda of the Fulanis.

You don’t know what you are talking about. Pray that you experience it then you would know what it is that rape victims go through.
Nigerians’ if you have never been a victim or know someone who really experienced it, please don’t talk about it.
I deal with victims of sexual abuse here in the United States everyday and I know it’s not an easy thing. The trauma they go through is too much.
I agree with you that kidnapping and the Fulani cattlemen issues need to be addressed as well but rape is an equally important issue to address.
      Shalom!

Rape is an act that is totally condemnable but victims should never wait for too long before exposing the perpetrators and parents especially mothers should learn to trust their children and open their ears wide to listen to them to avoid the menace from spreading. When you keep quiet, the perpetrators have reason to continue to get more victims. #speakupimmediately

DB, I always appreciate your contribution in this forum but I’m so surprised that you as a female who knows better about the stigma attached to the rape victims in Nigeria questioning the inability of that young lady to come forward at that time. We are talking about Nigeria as a referenced Country here not a Western Country where you can walk up to the authority and the violator will be arrested immediately. What happened to previous church members who have alleged the same Pastor of rape?. It has become his pattern by forcing himself on weak females church members.?

DB, at that time she was 16 going to 17. How do you think she could possibly establish a case against a well known public figure who could bribe his way to turn the case against her. I believe this is the right time for her to come out plus the fact that her husband encourages her to do this otherwise, it could have been her word against his word. Do you think it is easy for her to narrate this event to her husband? Her husband detected that she has been sexually violated, humiliated and doesn’t want other less privileged females go through that route.

The same thing happened to Stephanie Otobo but because of her profession, nobody supported her and Suleman took advantage of her family impoverishment, bullied them to back down and coerced Stephanie to retract her allegations. She was deceived by Suleman who promised to marry her and forcefully terminated the pregnancy she had for him.

This case has gained a national attention because Busola’s husband is a celebrity and he already aware about this rape incidence.

However, Biodun Fatoyinbo (COSA) has responded to the allegation that he never raped her and he had employed the service of some good lawyers who will help him fight the case. Well, he has church money to pursue his case but he is going to fail if he tries to use money to redeem his image. All he has to do is to step down to prevent further embarrassment. Even his own Church members are demanding for his resignation and independent investigation. This case has gone beyond what he thinks he can possibly fix.

Oh you misunderstand me. I am not blaming her in any way. My thought is that things like these go on for so long because victims dont speak up and most probably because they dont even have parental support system. I am advocating for victims to speak up. Things are different now and thankfully, we have more supportive parents on issues like this unlike the former times. People are better informed and victims are not to allow perpetrators get another victim before they speak up. If you speak up, the rapist knows he is under surveillance and might not have the confidence to continue this hellish act.

Truly, she kept quiet for too long because there ll be always question of ‘why now?’ ‘why not then?’ Pls, this is for everybody, develop that courage to reveal the case when it happens. In most cases when one reveal such after a long time, there is usually something that happens at that moment which now erupts back a dead matter; or some have motive of bringing down great people. A man who is being used by God, touching lives, giving meaning to lives of many, appreciated by a lot of many people, and you now have a kind of evil courage to attack him today by what allegedly happened yesteryears (yesterday), I don’t think its godly. Nobody is encouraging rape or related action, but pls lets apply wisdom to whatever action we want to take. You don’t need to go on air for this, no need for noise. What gain do you have if this man leave pulpit because of you? What do you gain out of stopping him from the work of God? For God sake you are still member of his church till now. Remember its not only him you are attacking by this action, you attach the entire church; shame and embarrass the godly people being raised including yourself unless you don’t know.
I know somebody might not like this comment but this is the truth.

Kola if your daughter was raped by a pastor would you still comment this way? Even the Bible tells us that in the last days there will be many false witnesses. so your argument is that because he is touching lives he should continue to act with impunity?

@Kola, your response is baseless and lacks logic. If you watched the interview, she told her elder sister and brother at that time and her brother went to confront this pastor who started begging them that he did not know what came over him. She even mentioned this happened in the presence of other two pastors. Kola from your response you are one of those who shout “TOUCH NOT MT ANNOINTED” and shout “DADDY GO” when when they commit crime. What work of God is he doing by raping young girls (church members or not). A couple of years ago or was it last year when another female said she was raped by this same pastor, when asked for his response he said God told him not to say anything.

You people may be judging the man of God. Though am not in support of any one. Buthas the girl bring out the real evidence, let ask ourselves pls.

Oluwadare, please get yourself out of that mental slavery by supporting every single action taken by your so called Pastors. You are saying where is the evidence because people like you have been hypnotized by the association of witchcraft church workers. You have been chained down using religion. How could you demand for an evidence in this kind of situation. You want her to bring the red clothes which was used in cleaning her blood? you know what! I’m going to pray that may your daughter be mercilessly raped and her virginity be taken away by some church pedophiles. If you can say Amen to that prayer, then I will respect your contribution if not, you need to go back and think before you make comments in a forum like this. Man of God my foot!

you guys comment seem to impressed and annoyed me……either by siding the woman or the pastor doesn’t make anyone of them righteous. casting stone doesn’t make either of your guys righteous. both parties are to be blames… if truly u want to be honest in this matter. if someone stole my meat in 2009 and am coming out now to tell the world shows there are more to the story!!!……a word is enough for the wise. so we are watching!
