January 29, 2018 – Nigerian Actress Uche Ogbodo Cries As Army Officer Attacks, Beat Her Up At Lekki Toll Gate, Says Nigeria Is Full Of Hate

Nigeria Is Full Of hate, It Is Not A Favourable Place For Women – Says Uche Ogbodo

In case you missed the story, Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo was yesterday battered by a military man in Lekki after he allegedly bashed her car.

The actress who narrated her ordeal yesterday condemned the way in which people turned her into a laughing stock instead of coming to her rescue.

Here is her own side of the assault story:

I Am still in Tears and don’t know how to Start Telling The Story of how I was assaulted yesterday Evening at about 5:30pm .. After I left the Disabled home where I went to Share Love and Hope, I drove straight from Ikotun which is almost 3 or 4 hours to the island where I Stay, on getting to the Lekki Toll gate (by oriental hotel) tired and exhausted, the next thing I noticed A Car has impacted with my Car., out of shock I didn’t know what to do, I sat down for almost 30 seconds thinking of how this driver could drive like that.

Before I could come out of my car the driver was already out, shouting saying I bashed his car , I was confused and surprised as well that a man that ran into Me could be shouting at me, trying to intimidate me and making me feel everything was my fault. I went round to the accident side to check the damage the impact made on my car, I saw my light was off and was on the floor and my bumper was pulled off., I looked at his, There was no evident damage to his car.

I went mad with Rage, i said to him “Oga we have to wait here till the Police patrol comes to ascertain who was at fault” but the man said “ Get out of my way you Harlot”, as he made to enter his car to flee the scene and I grabbed him, you bashed my car and you are calling me names and at the same time wanting to flee the scene.

I held firmly to his shirt since that was the only thing I could do as a woman at that time, but the man entered his Car, started the ignition and driving with me holding on to his shirt, his back tire even Climbed my Feet, thank God I was wearing a Boot that protected me from Getting hurt. And as he was driving away he was winding up his glass squeezing my hands to the door panel, I managed to pull of my hands.

And I went thru the back Window to stop him and he started winding up again, squeezing my hands I was forced to pull off my hands from the Window before he cuts it , in the process the back glass broke and I feel to the floor. Before I could get up, the guy stopped his car,ran to my own car and Took My bag, My phones I ran after him to collect my bag, this man held my hands and stabbed me Multiple Times with his Keys.

uche ogbodo stabbed military man lekki

Eventually the police came and the can changed the story and said he was a military man too that I tried to assault him. Lied blatantly and tried to frame me! This case is now at the police station right now, and from the way the police people are sounding I’m not sure I’m gonna get justice for Assault meted on me.

After laying my complaints they held my Car and said I can’t drive home with my Car and some of them telling me I was lucky that the man is not violent enough, if not I would have been killed and nothing will happen. So I want to Ask Well meaning Nigerians .

1. Why am I hated So Much for being A Celebrity, are celebrities not humans too?

2. Why nobody’s came forth to settle the hassle when it started out of 500 people that were at the toll gate at the point! They were busy screaming “ it’s that Actress, it’s that Actress, “They watched me being assaulted and only took pics and filmed me for Fun! Am I in the worst profession?

My heart is broken, For Myself and My Young Baby who is equally In this country Nigeria where there is no Hope and no Law to protect Women.

Why am I even Here! This Country is full of Hate and Jealousy! Not A Favorable Place For Women , when it’s  Men Dominated Society where, when a Woman is Assaulted and killed , it’s becomes a Norm!.

We must Speak Up For Justice! WE NEED A CHANGE!

GET A QUALIFIED Lawyer to handle the idiot plus the stupid so called officers that were trying to intimidate you and trying to push the matter under the carpet.

WHAT THE hell did the mean by you were lucky that the said man wasn‘t violent enough otherwise he would have even killed you and nothing would happen??????

Stupid comment so far from people meant to protect lives and properties.
So, if one becomes a force man in Nigeria he‘s immediately given the right to molest people at will and escape with his crime even a murder case?

That can only happen in Animal‘s country like buhari and his kins are trying to turn this country into by giving more right to freedom of movements to common Cows and are more valuable and protectet than humans.

    I take a stroll…

Don’t argue with a military man? That’s cruel to say the least. The man has obviously misused his authority and deserves nothing less than being sued for all he’s worth. It’s only in Nigeria that people will be allowed to carry out violent acts towards other human beings under the excuse of being a ‘military’ man.

I’m sorry ma’am if this actually happened, I am a soldier too in this same country and I can’t behave that way cos I am well exposed to people and that’s why I have many civil friends who are ready to do anything if its about me.
If I should go by what you said in this article then what the soldier did was wrong and its punishable under the army and civil laws. But if that soldier is on uniform , then you should please never hold a uniform man on Hus uniform its a national disgrace on that level cos the whole world would lose respect for it. You should have just take your phone and snap him since from what you said he should spend enough minutes there before the police came around .
When the police come around that’s when you can start calling your lawyer cos his name and means of identity or address would have been gotten by the police too.
Its not a big case to solve since you are more exposed..
And lastly women have rights in Nigeria too, I’ve seen uniform men who harrass civilians are being severely punishedpunished . so you saying bad about our country is not good cos news like this are not being read by only Nigerians but foreigners too, so it is what you do in your country to them that they follow and that’s why when they cone here, they behave anyhow cos they feel it has been that way.
I am very SORRY about what happened but let’s limit how we post our personal problems on net. I apologize once more on behalf of him for being kiddy about the stuff but please never you harrass a man on uniform. And if he isn’t then the toll gate workers and supervisors are to be blamed for keeping quiet too far. Thanks

Hello leumax foxx, seen your response to but please don’t believe what she said ,myself and my brother were at the scene when it happened the man in question was in plain T/shirt and jeans, nothing revealed him as a military man. she actually thought he is a bloody civilian, decided to take law into her hands ,make a scene. my brother you are a military man you said, if you had seen what she did to that colleague of yours you will marvel.she held on to his shirt almost strangling him to death, beat him with punches uncontrollable with her car keys, break his backside car window glass with her bear hands which shattered all over the car and on 2 children less than 10 years of age (minors), and this glass inflicted those injuries on her hands. why is Uche not telling the truth, i as a lady was so so ashamed of what a fellow lady displayed and a celebrity at that. please don’t jump into conclusion when you hear such stories she has written the story to seek sympathy knowing too well she is at fault. again for our information, the man didn’t lay a finger on her. tell her to be careful, before she ends her carrier with her own hands.

  9. uzoma

    January 29, 2018 at 1:42 PM

@Adegbola, Uche did not know he was a military man. Even at that, is that the reason why he bashed her car and tried to intimidate her so he can go scot free? Nnamdi Kanu made a mistake by calling Nigeria a zoo. A zoo is a controlled environment; Nigeria is a gigantic jungle where animals roam free without control. It is getting to a time when everybody will be free to carry arms. The police that are suppose to serve and protect are afraid because the idiot is a military officer. The case will be swept under the carpet.

It’s really sad if a Man forget about weather he is a Military Man or what ever should descend so low as to humiliate an innocent woman for an offence she did not commit. On her own side she should have exercised a little patience and ignored him. The dramer shouldn’t have escalated to this extent

Uche, it is unfortunate that this situation has to turn out this way. Nigeria is a lawless Country where the innocents victims are not guarantee of fair justice, because of that, you could have resulted in using different approach in handling the issue. In any Country of law, taking his tag/ license plate Number will help you find a better solution to this matter rather than holding his shirt. As part of the Military/Law enforcement training, they have been trained not to be embarrassed, humiliated or disgraced by civilians otherwise, they will loose control and ability to enforce law in the public. I think that was the reason he acted the way he acted that day plus you are a public figure. Holding him tight will never solve that problem that day but through the course of law.

If while you are taking his car’s picture, he suddenly snatch or seize your phone, that could have been a different situation. I’m not trying to support this guy because they are bunch of ignorant of law. He should have at least handle it maturely like exchange your information and promise he will fix your car even if he cannot shoulder the whole bill, that could have diffused the tension that day.
