woman dies during childbirth church ogun state

By Kunle Akinriade, The Nation

A young woman has died while giving birth in a church in Ogun state.

23-year-old Deborah Kolawole died while delivering her child at a church in Oke Oyinbo area of Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Sources said the pastor in charge of a pentecostal church in the area identified as Samuel had asked Deborah to observe spiritual protection in his church, in order to avert death during childbirth.

Deborah, a beautician, was said to have heeded the warning and moved to the church six months ago, for the spiritual protection. But what she wanted to avert eventually happened penultimate Wednesday after she went into labour.

According to sources, there was no nurse or birth attendant around when Deborah went into labour, at about 4 am. She was said to have lost a lot of blood until a nurse invited by the pastor came around 6 am.

Although, sources said the nurse assisted Deborah to deliver the child, she died later in the evening.

The baby also did not survive.

The woman’s death angered her husband, who accused the Pastor of fraudulent practices and complicity in the death of his wife.

A source said:

‘’Deborah’s husband, Kolawole said the pastor collected a lot of money from him after he asked his wife to start spiritual protection in his church, following a revelation the pastor claimed he had.

‘’He said that an elderly woman in the church asked his wife to walk up and down, she experienced signs of labour and there was no nurse in sight. But she had lost a lot of blood before the arrival of a nurse and she was placed on drip. She however died a few hours later when the pastor asked her to start denouncing her spiritual tormentors.

‘’Kolawole was also angry that the pastor warned him not to tell anyone that his wife died in the church during childbirth.’’

Whats with nigerians always asking Od to judge someone, that’s why we have tbe courts and police. This gross negligent manslaughter.. Clearly.. Thats if they can’t prove second degree murder o… There’s no need for judgement from God ehn… He should be prosecuted. Thats why people keep getting away with bullshit because we keep fooling ourselves into thinking God will punish people. God has given us authority on earth over right and wrong. The sooner we start using this authority, the better our nation will be. Kapisch.

Why would you allow a pastor to tell your wife to come and stay at a church for six months before giving birth to her child. My people perish because of lack of knowledge. One thing we must understand is that Pastors are not our God, some of them can have a message from God to us, but we also have to pray and avert anything evil that will come our way. Likewise we need to seek help from outside source, like a nurse, midwife or doctor. how can you tell a pregnant woman to stay in the church. God called some people to heal so that is why these health care people are there.

We it is a lesson all of us have to learn. May her soul rest in peace

How can a Pastor tell you to bring your wife to his church to deliver instead of taking her to the hospital where they have well qualified personnel to handle that? how did you allow this “pastor” to easily convince you? Bet you he might have been sleeping with your wife and may have a hand in her death for fear of being exposed as being the father of the baby. Gone are the days of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when miracles abound and God spoke directly to people. The world is full of sin today. God does not speak directly to us these days and that is why he allow places like hospitals to cure sicknesses and handle child births etc. See how you blindly allow your beautiful wife die in the hand of the fake pastor.
