Few days ago Nigerian footballer Osaze Odemwingie took to his Twitter page to express his displeasure on how international footballers are being maltreated by football administrators citing Taribo West, late Rashidi Yekini and others as example.
Here is what Osaze tweeted. “Yekini, (may his soul RIP) our legend died in poverty…Femi Opabunmi lost his sight and struggling to feed now…T. West I heard not so comfortable and few others,” .
Coincidentally, Taribo West got a hold of the message in one of the daily newspapers. He was forced to reply him in annoyance.
See Taribo West’s reply to Osaze‘s tweets below.
“It is embarrassing to read such comments about me in the newspapers. The last time he probably saw me was in 2008, so what does he know about me?
“Have I asked him for money before? God has been kind to me and my ministry and I have not begged anybody for money. I am doing well; I am not broke and never will be till Christ comes. In Christ, I have everything, so I am not lacking. I think he has lost track and needs to get himself together.
“He should shut up and focus on his career instead of insulting his seniors all the time. He needs to respect his elders. His utterances smacks of indiscipline and unprofessionalism. He should apologise to everyone he’s been abusing on Twitter because if he continues like this, he will not go far.”
Taribo further said:
“If he is fighting for ex-players, then that is not how to go about it. He should come home and fight those who are not helping the footballers.
“How many ex-footballers has he helped? How can he stay in England and fight for a cause in Nigeria? He should join his seniors and fight for their cause because his approach has no foundation,”.
Osaze obviously had good intentions.
Taribo West was just displeased to read such comments made about him in newspaper.

This osaze guy blows everytin out of propotion. Indeed he must learn how 2respect his elders. Whats wrong with? No wonder his atitude couldn,t alow to play in AFCON dat was just concluded coz of his rudenes to Stephen kechi. Isaze my advice to u is dat u shuld remember what d bible said dat”pride is always d downfall of everyman” so u got to be careful k?

Osaze is a football,Osaze is old than b4 without a football achieve, Osaze has no trouphy record,so neva pray 4 my son 2 become an Osaze,instead, my son will bcum a greater footballers like the americans.

Pls. categorically I saw nothing wrong with OSAZE’s comments. how do you feel without “YEKINI” seeing KESHI, AMOKACHI,JAY-JAY and others who were both nigeian contingents for “TUNISIA & USA 94” celebrating? I believe that’s what OSAZE was trying to point out. (Our legend) Pastor TARIBO WEST shouldn’t misunderstand the voice of OSAZE fighting for our ex heroes c/s I felt the same, and quickly remembered our HEROES especially YEKINI when we won.

basically,there is nothing wrong with what he said,though he might have been wrong with his past attitude bt nt with this one..how can t.west ask him to leave his way of income and come to nigeria and fight against it..i think taribo been a pastor does want people to see him as a man living comfortably nt an average man as osaze meant…he took his words wrongly,being a pastor doesn’t mean he can’t misjudge someone for does talkin baisly,try to see things urself.. A man who follows d crowd will never be follow by crowd

why wont osaze speak for himself, rather than indirect mocking, he did not even wish he fellow brother who became a pastor well, rather he was comparing him with the once who failed and the once who are death.which implies that if t west is not careful he will end like them, Osaze, is time you know that life changes, things change as well, always remember the place “where rain for beat you” don’t always remember alone where the sun dry you up. “for it better to shun the bite they say, than to struggle in snake”….
