August 16, 2017 – Poor Farmers Protest As Fulani Herdsmen Invade Village, Destroy Crops In Delta State

Female farmers of Iyede community in Delta state, have shut down busy Ughelli – Asaba Road while protesting the menace of herdsmen’s activities in the area.

The women were joined by the community youths and men. The protesters seen with placards which read ‘Herdsmen destroyed our crops’, ‘We don’t want herdsmen in our bush,’ blocked vehicles from passing the axis.

One of the protesters said, “Our major pain are the deaths, rape and trauma being suffered by our mothers and young girls at the mercy of marauding herdsmen.

“If we can no longer go to our farms again because of herdsmen, on what do we now survive as poor farmers?”

  1. 2. Injustice in the highest level. The president would not condemn and take concrete step to arrest the barbaric activities of the gun-wielding Fulani Herd’s Men but could openly condemn Anambra massacre. Does it now mean those who have suffered the loss of there villages, there loved ones, there farms, there source of livelihood are not worth the president’s condolence and his supportive statement to strengthen them? Almighty God will judge every one of you for turning blind eyes to the evil of this people.

  3. Oya, Government set up Committee, send Legislators to the area to visit on” fact finding mission” , debate and fight in the nation’s Upper and Lower Houses and let all those actions enter voice mail as usual if you chose that option BUT DO SOMETHING as this deafening silence from GOVERNMENT is too much and extremely worrisome.

  4. Why cant these governors make a decree over this matter in their states?
What is wrong with these so called governors sef?
