June 3, 2012 – Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Tanker Explosion: 24 Vehicles Burnt

This explosion which occurred around 1:45am on Saturday 2nd of June, 2012 left commuters on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway stranded for over 7 hours (including Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi’s wife).

An over-loaded petrol tanker fell and caught fire.

The fire left over 24 vehicles completely burnt.

According to Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC) report, no one died.

    It’s very ufortunate, the issue of petrol tankers falling and going ablaze is becoming incessant and i believe it’s becous of the non carefulness of their drivers. Thank God nobody died from the incidence.
