For those who do not know him, popular American rapper Wale is a Nigerian who hails from Ondo State.

In a recent interview, he opened up on why he has never been to Nigeria since birth.

Wale said his father and mother were so poor they couldn’t afford to buy his plane ticket.

Hear Wale in his own words:

“I grew up poor. We lived in DC, in the projects. Getting a ticket to Nigeria on $20, 000 income yearly, to my family that wasn’t really… you know…like I was a 15 year old with a decent job, I’m not going to save up to go to Nigeria. That wasn’t what I was thinking when I was that age. And then I was in college and the money tight right then. And then I get this record deal when I dropped out of school, you’re running around so much you don’t even have time to see your own parents”

A school dropout now a millionaire.

Wale paid his first visit to Nigeria last week.

Ha,who have the last laugh now,it was yours all this while,It was written in the stars long ago that you will be who you are now just like Tinie Tempah sang.I love when people share their past difficult days with laughter and as a pushing force behind their success without tears but rather say i once did this or that to survive but look at me are blessed Wale and keep growing.stay away from drugs, because that’s where people’s downfall start.
