Dec 9, 2014 – Obasanjo’s Autobiography Book, My Watch Now On Sale, Publication Ban Has Failed

According to an excerpt of former President Obasanjo’s autobiography, cowardly Governor Godswill Akpabio ran to Obasanjo after the Nigerian Governors Forum election and said, “We have messed up and don’t leave us alone. For me, I don’t want to go to jail and my children are too young.”-#MyWatch by Olusegun Obasanjo

An attempt by Buruji Kashamu, a close associate of President Goodluck Jonathan, to stop the publication of a three-volume book by former President Obasanjo, appears to have failed as SaharaReporters can confirm that the book has gone into circulation. A source close to Mr. Obasanjo confirmed to SaharaReporters late last night that copies of the former president’s exhaustive autobiography were already available to buyers in print form. The source that the book would soon be available in an electronic version that is beyond the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.

SaharaReporters has already obtained and read sections of the book scheduled for formal launch in Nigeria in a few days.

The book, whose three volumes chronicle the life of the controversial former president from birth till this year, aroused political interest after SaharaReporters exclusively reported that Mr. Obasanjo devotes significant pages to paint an unflattering portrait of President Jonathan. We reported that the book characterizes Mr. Jonathan as selfish, weak-willed, callous and incapable of rising to the challenges of running a complex country like Nigeria. Mr. Obasanjo also accuses the president of surrounding himself with aides and political associates with corrupt tendencies.

Mr. Obasanjo’s book dedicates several parts in the book to point out some of Mr. Jonathan’s actions and inactions he considers ill-advised or disastrous for Nigeria. He depicts Mr. Jonathan as a man who has not only destroyed the Peoples Democratic Party but also led Nigeria in dire straights.

The book focuses on several instances of policy somersaults by Mr. Jonathan as well as deliberate actions by the incumbent president that have imperiled Nigeria’s progress in the opinion of Mr. Jonathan.

An Abuja-based lawyer and critic of Mr. Obasanjo accused the former president of seeking to use the book to earn cheap popularity, adding that Mr. Obasanjo cannot get away from responsibility for “sponsoring President Jonathan’s rise to political prominence and the Presidency.”

“We have been saying it from day one that President Goodluck Jonathan does not have the qualities to become a true leader, but we cannot forget that Chief Obasanjo singlehandedly put him and the late President Umaru Yar’Adua in office,” the lawyer said.

Mr. Obasanjo’s book also castigates former President Umaru Yar’Adua, former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, and former Governor James Ibori of Delta State, Bukola Saraki, among other political foes.

In the book, the former president also makes an incredible claim that he was never interested in pursuing a third term while in office.

“That is a clear lie,” said Mr. Obasanjo’s critic. “To even deny what is so obvious to every Nigerian shows that Chief Obasanjo has little regard for the truth.”

I will never read any book written by a man of no credibility, election fraudster, and the pioneer of all Nigerian misfortune and setbacks. How can former president Olusegun Obasanjo denied in his new book his desperate attempt to remain in power even after he had served his eight years in Aso Rock Villa?. He imposed then Governor Goodluck Jonathan on former president Yaradua with total disregard for the party’s rules and regulations. In my view, reading OBJ books about Nigerian current state is a total waste of one’s precious times.

There is no doubt that president Jonathan is the worst political mistake in Nigerian history. He will leave office next year either by people’s mandate or military takeover as the worst and most imcompentent president Nigeria ever had. He became vice president and assumed the highest position in the nation through Obasanjo’s political manipulations, political fixing, and election fraud. This is why OBJ criticism of president Jonathan’s leadership failure, corruption, imcompentence, and mismanagement sounds very hypocritical and funny to majority of well – informed Nigerians. How can he blame his well-trained boy who behave like him in Aso Rock, and he is even trying to surpass him in his dirty political games. As for me, OBJ and GEJ issue is “like father, like son” scenario.

The only hope that we have as Nigerian citizens is to vote this criminal and corrupt president out of office next year. If president Jonathan is allowed to rig and continue to rule Nigeria beyond 2015, Nigeria will be completely destroyed due to his imcompentence, mismanagement, corruption, abuse of power, intimidation of opposition, money laundering operations and insecurity posed by evildoers called Boko Haram. We must shun tribalism, bribery and religious intolerance on election day by voting for the right and competent candidate. President Badluck had almost six years to make a different but he has failed suffering Nigerian people miserably. We cannot expect a different results from this do-nothing president who has ten presidential jets while 99.9 % of our people are living in abject poverty. He must be voted out of office come next year for peace, unity and prosperity of our beloved nation.

If indeed Obasanjo claimed in the book that he did not have and never pursued a 3rd term agenda, then the book is intended to mislead now and influence the judgment of history or detract from the consensus of opinion that he misruled and tried to perpetrate that rule.

Whatever you say about OBJ is your personal opinion… please someone tell me this book is in Amazon. President Badluck Ebele Jonathan thinks by retrieving the book from circulation Nigerians will not know the truth abi? keep doing it! those that are with you in corruption are less than those of us that are against you. This message is from aggrieved Nigerian.

It is good to have this book published. Why? One of the biggest problems in Nigeria (and black world generally) is shrouding government’s business in excessive secrecy; consequently no one knows why things are always going wrong with all successive governments. Hate him or like him, you just cannot discountenance the writings of a two time President.

To all those who don’t agree with the contents, write your own book to straighten the facts and that way we will know more about how our government and leaders operate. To Mr. Kashamu, all he need to do is file a libel suit, prove his case and cripple OBJ financially. his course of actions thus far might get people thinking he has something to hide.

Personally, I intend to buy two copies of the book: one for myself and one for my school’s library.

For Lagos residents you can get the book in traffic (saw a book peddler with it on the bridge that crosses Anthony to oshodi) and book stores in ojuelegba. I just hope it hasnt been pirated yet. The person was selling it for 8k, and was willing to negotiate further.
