In January 2016, the first death victim in Nollywood, child actor Olamide David died after a brief illness.

In February, another actor, Mike Odiachi lost his battle to an undisclosed illness in Lagos. He reportedly died at the age of 51 on his sick bed at Ikorodu Lagos General hospital

Also in February of this year, star actor Festus Aguebor passed away after a brief illness.

In May, Fred Ekata lost his battle to kidney disease.

Also in May another budding actress Genevieve Nene died of Malaria.

In June 2016, popular Yoruba actor Alfa Lateef aka Itakure died of Ulcer complication

Also in June, Henrietta Kosoko died of diabetes complication and spiritual attack in Lagos at the age of 53.

In July, Nollywood lost veteran actress Bukky Ajayi to heart attack at age 82.

On the 8th of August 2016, popular Yoruba actor Wale Omo Iyamileko died of strange illness.

On the 30th of September, Nollywood oldest actor Elder Maya (real names Martins Njubuigbo) lost his battle to liver disease and legs infection at the age of 87.

  1. TIME FLIES! I wouldn’t have believed it was January that Mrs Kosoko died. I looks like just the other day. Requiescat in pace!

  2. All these deaths was actually foretold by a certain prophet at the begining of this year but know one took him seriously.

    I don‘t know why the searchlight of death seem to be focus on Nollywood this year.

    Just like fife commented, I believe the list is far from complete.
    May God have mercy on their gentle souls.

  4. nollywood should seek God face and create an insurance policy that cover those that need help. Rip to the dead.

  5. Many souls lost in daily basis. Nothing is wrong with industry or is it because they are celebrities. Every living beings should seek the face of God, not just celebrity.
