Oct 27, 2014 – 2015 Nigerian Presidential Election: Obasanjo Warns Against Muslim-Muslim Or Christian-Christian Ticket

Ex-President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo has warned against the danger of picking a Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket.

Obasanjo says the fear of Islamisation or Christianisation of Nigeria poses a threat to peaceful coexistence of people in Nigeria.

In a PR issued on Sunday evening, hear what the former President sai:

“Sensitivity is a necessary ingredient for enhancement of peace, security and stability at this point in the political discourse and arrangement for Nigeria and for encouraging confidence and trust.

“It will be insensitive to the point of absurdity for any leader or any political party to be toying with Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket at this juncture.

“Nigeria cannot at this stage, raise the spectre and fear of Islamisation or Christianisation. The idea of proselytisation in any form is a grave danger that must not be contemplated by any serious-minded politician at this delicate situation in Nigeria, as this time is different from any other time.”

Do you agree with him?

Close ur mouth, all we need Good Govt, not Religion, here in the west who care about ur religion or sex life, that reason things work well for them. Muslim -Muslim tickets or christian-christian ticket, who care all we need food on the table, jobs for our children, problem of light to over, good road, stop kidnapping, stop, robbers, stop ritualist, stop Religion fight, stop tribal problem, stop fulanis herd men killing and taking over farmers land and more above all this,Boko Harms, bring back those innocent gals to their families. During Buhari and Idiagbon things was well with naija, less corupption in their Govt, but now Corupption is in every place of Govt OMG-Fashola is the best Gov,in naija, joining them together will bring naija to a good place,i will vote for my first time to Buhari-Fashola tickets,or Buhari-Amachi tickets am taking about that River state Govt,is not affried to say to the truth about Madam Dame and Oga on top.

Buhari is old. The future of Nigeria is not his future. He will be dead in that future. His only agenda right now is to islamize Nigeria. Nobody is worried about Fashola, But we are Worried about Boko Haram.

Religion is important because Muslims(especially Northern) politicians are prime suspects in Boko Haram. We need a Christian NORTHERNER as president with a Muslim Southerner as Vice. That would definitely be an ideal ticket.

No man can Islamise Nigeria. We are tired of this sentiment which has taken us no were. All we need is credible candidate who have the fear of God and the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart. God can use anybody, christian or muslim to turn our county around. Nigerian should wake up, enough of sentiment. We must move Nigeria forward. Only a fool will continue to do things the same way and expect different or better result. Remember the Holy Bible tells us of Wolves in Sheeps clothens. We must wake up and get it right this time. God bless Nigeria. Amen

Go and read about TURKEY. That country used to be over 95% Christian. What about Jerusalem? Meanwhile, try to setup a Church in Mecca and see reaction. A faith that always has to resort to violence to push its agenda or thinks they need to fight for a God that is greater that them(but cannot fight for himself) is not a faith worth ruling Nigeria. With Boko Haram, it will take some time for us to trust muslims.

A President(Christian) from the North and Muslim from the South will be Ideal right about now.

well said OBJ,we niajas understand why Buhari is not saying or doing anything concerning what his brothers and fellow muslims Boko haram is doing in his home town northeast of niaja,. buhari has his plans he want to use boko haram to enforce sharia laws on niaja.
i dont think any niaja that is peace loving will vote for muslim– muslim,
nigeria is not a muslim nation,

Can we please put religion aside and be objective in our reasoning. Who cares if you are a christian or muslim as long as you do the right thing to transform Nigeria. Fashola and Tinubu in Lagos, do you see them islamizing Lagos or doing anything to suggest that? We want genuine people and not people that would come and use religion to deceive people like Jonathan. They worship God with their lips but their heart is far from Him… Nigerians be wise don’t let them keep pushing you about with their political doctrines. I do not belong to any party and I’m a christian but I won’t be ruled by sentiment and vote for someone because he “says” he’s a christian. I don’t think Mandela was even a christian/muslim and we all know the story… THINK *Like father like sons*

May your days be long, you really make a lot of sense. Am a Muslim and I don’t care if a christian christian rule us, as long as I can sleep with both eyes closed, put on the shower when I want to have my bath, good drinking water, constant electricity, good roads and jobs for the youth. Aside from the fact that I like and admire buhari so much but it the ticket should go to all christian,i will still vote for Rochas okorocha, rotimi amechi, oshomole, most especially Rochas okorocha, he is a true man of God. God bless Rochas, God bless Nigeria.

What the pioneer of Nigerian problems said is total nonsense because we never had true Christian or true Muslim as our president since the dissolution of the first republic. A true Muslim or christian president will not be dancing minutes after terrorists killed his people; he will not steal the people’s money and launder the money in a foreign account. He will not manipulate election results to favor him or his party candidates. Those that have been governing Nigeria either through Military coup or political manipulations or election fraud are selfish, unpatriotic, and criminal leaders with no vision to make Nigeria a better nation. None of the two most popular religious in Nigeria (Christianity and Islam ) tolerates election fraud, looting of national treasury, money laundering by government officials, intimidation, imcompentence, mismanagement, corruption and mass murder of innocent Nigerians. Both the Bible and the Quran teach us against all the criminal behaviors that are common attributes of all our politicians. They use both religious to cause disunity, terrorism, political instability, and tribal sentiments in order to be elected or get reelected. Obasanjo is the architect of Nigerian present predicament; he single handedly paved way to the most incompetent president in Nigerian history, he was the pioneer of election fraud and looting in Nigeria. What Nigeria needs is a competent, discipline, patriotic, and a man of integrity to lead us from this present darkness to light. Religious, tribe, culture and language of the candidates should not be a barrier to any political offices in a true democracy.
