Brother Idris Usman of Northern Youths Intellectual Advocacy Forum (NYIF) got it all wrong on the life and death of Prince Audu Abubakar. Why? First, it not the duty of any group or forum to pick a replacement for a deceased candidate of any state election in any true democracy. President Buhari was not picked by any such forum as APC presidential candidate few months ago, instead the president went through the normal and democratic process among many candidates who are capable and willing to serve, he eventually emerged as the winner and APC candidate. Therefore, the “Replacement Clause” is not in Nigerian constitution and has no place in a true democracy. Prince Audu is nobody hero, but an highly corrupt politician who looted the people’s money when he served as governor of Kogi state years ago. The people of Kogi state should be allowed to pick who will better represents their interests in the next election. NYIF has no business picking one Jibrin Isah to replace the deceased. This should serve as a lesson to all our greedy and unpatriotic politicians that naked we all come to this world, and naked we shall depart at God’s appointed times. The most crucial thing in a man’s life is his or her true service to God and humanity. May God grant the family of the deceased the grace and strength to coup with their lost. Amen.
