Ex-President Obasanjo has narrated how hard he worked to find his actual date of birth.
Obasanjo said he went as far as consulting an Indian astrologer – he revealed this to an audience in Abeokuta yesterday.
He added that the astrologer failed to tell him his exact birth date but he assured him that he would become great and live long.
His words:
“Let me say this, I do not know the date of my birth, when I started school, we were asked to give our date of birth. I used to ask my mother, she would say ‘You were born on Ifo Market Day.’
She said ‘you were born on Ifo Market Day. Tell them you were born on Ifo Market Day. All the my mother, an illiterate woman, could remember was that it was an Ifo Market Day and before the people who went to the market returned, he had fallen into labour and I was delivered,” he said.

Is a same to me o. I am not knowing my birthday bicos my mother was wenting to farm one day and shit come holam. She enter bush to shit and when she have shit finish, she stand up and was notice say she no carry belle again. She touch her belle and see say it have dey flat. Then she turn and see say she don born me on top shit. She shout help o help o help o. So pipul was run to gather to be helping her. Even today, pipul are still use am to laugh upon me say I was born me on shit. Is no wahala bicos no be me was cause am. It not my falls. It not even my mama falls. It just happen like that bicos it want to happen. Na national filomina. So they was born Obasanjo for market day. But they was born me on farm day.
