September 9, 2017 – 6 Policemen Dismissed In Abia State For Allowing Suspects To Escape From SCIID Custody In Umuahia

Abia Police Commissioner Oyebade Adeleye said today that 6 police officers have been dismissed from the NPF for negligence of duty.

Explaining what led to cops’ orderly room trial, the police commissioner said the dismissed men allowed some suspects to escape from custody of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) in Umuahia, the state capital.

Oyebade added that 3 of the suspects Ukaegbu Emeka, Chukwu Chijioke and Anyim Kingsley have been rearrested for stealing firearms during their escape.

He said efforts are ongoing to recover the AK47 rifles which the 3 suspects took away.

Oyebade said the dismissed cops would soon be charged to court.
