Omoni Oboli Was Born In Benin Edo State To Parents From Mosogar Delta State..How She Rose To Fame
Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli, becomes the reigning Queen of bankability in Nollywod as many of the films she has appeared in or produced have gone on to make a big splash at the cinemas.
An actress, scriptwriter, director, producer and digital filmmaker with a number of screenplays to her credit, Omoni Oboli won the award for Best Actress Narrative Feature at the Los Angeles Movie Awards in 2010 as well as the award for Best Actress at the Harlem International Film Festival.
In 2014, she won Big Screen Actress of the Year award at the 2014 ELOY Awards for her movie, Being Mrs Elliott and bagged the Sun Nollywood “Personality of the Year” a year later. With movies such as Being Mrs Elliott, The First Lady, Wives on Strike, Okafor’s Law and another due out this year, she has become one of the most prolific producers in Nollywood along with the likes of Emem Isong and Mo’ Abudu.
Born in Benin City in Edo State, Nigeria to parents who hailed from Mosogar in Delta State, Omoni Oboli studied Foreign Languages at the University of Benin and kicked off her Nollywood career with her first movie role in Bitter Encounter in 1996)and also acted in Shame.
Bigger roles followed in Not My Will, Destined To Die and Another Campus Tale before she took the decision to leave the movie industry so as to complete her university education.
