In 1971, President Buhari married a beautiful woman named Safinatu Yusuf.
Safinatu who is the mother of Buhari’s four daughters married the retired military man at the age of age 18 shortly after she graduated from college.
The couple separated in 1988,
A year later, Buhari married Adamawa-born Aisha Buhari, who is now the First Lady.
10 years after her marriage crashed, Safinatu Yusuf was diagnosed with diabetes in Saudi Arabia.
Safinatu Yusuf died of Diabetes complications on Saturday, the 14th of January 2006 at Chasel Hospital in Unguwar Sarki area of Kaduna.
She was buried at Unguwar Rimi Cemetery in Kaduna the same day.
