Speaking of beauty, Ini Edo is the epitome of it. The actress was born on the 23rd of April 1982 in Akwa Ibom State Nigeria. She was born into an Ibibio family as the second of four children. Her parents were very disciplined and were very stern in the raising of their children, it is believed that it was as a result of their jobs because her father was a church leader and her mother was a school teacher.

Ini Edo started her education at the New Era International Nursery school and then proceeded to have her secondary education at Cornelius Cornelly College located in Uyo which is the capital of her state of origin. The actress always nursed a passion for acting but was unable to follow her dreams immediately because of the strict ways of her parents. She often jumped at opportunities to act whenever they presented themselves, either at church or in her school.

When she got to the age in which she could make decisions by herself and was about to go to higher institution, she decided she wanted to follow her passion to become an actress and thus decided to get an education studying theatre arts. Her parents disagreed at first but after serious persuasion they later agreed to let her follow her dreams. She took that opportunity and used it efficiently to develop her skills in acting. She graduated with a diploma in Theatre Arts at the University of Uyo.

Even though she had a diploma in Theatre Arts she  decided to further her education and subsequently went on to study English at the University of Calabar where she earned herself a Bachelors Degree.

Ini Edo started going to auditions while she was still an undergraduate. She had her first professional movie role in a movie titled “Thick Madam”. She is believed to be a lucky one as she just decided to accompany a friend to the movie auditions before she was discovered by the producer and then given a role in the movie. She once disclosed in an interview that she almost gave up the role because her parents wanted her to complete her education before having anything to do with acting professionally but she managed to persuade  them with the aid of friends and loved ones.

The movie which was released in 2003 marked the beginning of her career as an actress and it opened the doors which led her to getting the movie role which changed the rest of her life.

Just a year after her debut movie “Thick Madam”, Ini Edo got the job to play the major role in the megahit movie “Worlds Apart”. Her role was to act as a victim of sexual harassment. She claimed it was a very hard project for her as she had never experienced most of the things she had to act about in the movie, nonetheless she did an exceptional job and it put her in the spotlight in the movie industry.

After her breakthrough she went on to feature in 100s of movies and just a few years after her first movie she was one of the most sought after actresses in the Nigerian movie industry.

Over the years her fame grew at a fast pace and the name Ini Edo was known in almost every part of Nigeria and all over the world.

She has won many awards with her stunning roles in films and examples are Best Actress in Lead Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2009, Female Viewers Choice at the Golden Icons Academy Awards (GIAA) in 2013 and many others. Ini Edo along with colleagues such as Rita Dominic, Uche Jombo dominated the entertainment scene with their exceptional acting skills.

Being one of the most popular actresses in Nigeria Ini Edo is also the recipient of many lucrative endorsements deals, examples are, she was the brand ambassador for Globacom Nigeria (GLO) for a decade, brand ambassador for one of the reputable beauty products manufacturing company in Nigeria Nobel Hair and so many others.

Ini Edo was formerly married to a United States based business man Philip Ehiagwina in 2008. The marriage lasted for a period of six years before the couple decided to go their separate ways.

There were various allegations on the reason why the marriage failed, some claimed it was infidelity on the part of the actress but she denied it and sources close to the family also came out to back her. Her former husband was married before to a woman named Ruth Okoro who was battling cancer and this led to Ini Edo being accused of snatching an ailing woman’s wife, she also denied this.

The real reason why the marriage broke up is still unknown but various sources claim that it was as a result of irreconcilable differences. The couple had no child together before their break up.

Ini Edo has certainly moved on from her broken relationship as she is seen looking very good on social media. She has been involved in some blockbuster movies recently but her on screen presence can not be compared to what it was before. There were rumors that she was dating her colleague Micheal Godson but both parties have come out to deny this claim.

Away from the entertainment scene Ini Edo is the brand ambassador for Slim Tea Nigeria, a weight loss tea manufacturing company.

Her endorsement to Slim Tea is believed to be as a result of her sudden weight loss in recent months. She sure looks good.
