The aspiring president is running his political ambition under the platform of Young Progressive Party (YPP). The party is a relatively unpopular one prior to the emergence of Kingsley Moghalu’s presidential candidacy.

In May, 2018, Moghalu made known his intention to run for the office of the Nigerian president under the platform of YPP. On 8th September, 2018, he became the official presidential candidate of the party, after winning the presidential primary election at the party’s maiden national convention, which was held in Abuja.

Below is a list of YPP’s National Working Committee (NWC):

  • National Chairman: Emmanuel Amakiri
  • National Secretary: Honourable Bamaiyi Videyeno H.
  • Treasurer: Haruna Usman
  • Financial Secretary: Azeez Ahmed
  • Auditor: Adebayo Oduwole

Kingsley Moghalu For President

On February 4, 2018, Kingsley Moghalu declared his interest to run for the presidential office in the forthcoming general election. About two weeks after his official declaration, he visited Oba Ogunwusi Enitan, the Ooni of Ife, to solicit his support. This gave him further popularity, and he consequently earned the acceptance and endorsement of some prominent Nigerians.

A couple of the days ago, Nobel Laureate winner, Prof. Wole Soyinka, publicly declared his support for Kingsley Moghalu. And he encouraged Nigerians, especially the youths, to vote for him come February 16, 2019.

Moghalu’s campaign points centre around economic restrusturing. He proposed that the geopolitical regions in the country should be renamed “geo-economic” zones. This restructuring is aimed at affording each region the freedom to gain full control over its resources, with an agreed percentage delegated to the central government, in form of tax and security dues. As a seasoned political economist, Moghalu surely knows the benefits and repercussions of such drastic change in economic policy.

According the presidential aspirant, his primary objective (if elected) would be to boost the Nigerian economy, with a view to support (financially) small, medium and large scale enterprises in the country.

Moghalu’s presidential ambition is gaining steam by the day, and with respect to recent political rankings, he has been ranked just below the two leading candidates, as the third contender in the presidential race.

He is the face of the “third force”, whose primary aim is to rescue Nigeria from the claws of dictatorship and kleptocracy. This is a subtle dig aimed at the two leading contenders, President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who are running under the platforms of APC and PDP respectively.

Professor Kingsley Moghalu is running alongside a beautiful lady called Umma Getso, a 37-year old entrepreneur and political activist.

With the clock ticking away, the 2019 general election is drawing closer. And by this time next week, the new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would have been announced. Could it be Kingsley Moghalu? It’s left in the hands of you and I.

Although his chances are slim, he could very well pull off the greatest surprise of the century and come out top at the polls. In Moghalu’s words, “I’m confident of becoming the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

We can but wish him the best and hope for a free, fair and credible election.

God Bless Nigeria!!!
